# writeupsc > AI answer evaluation for handwritten UPSC Civil Services Mains answers. Upload photos of an answer sheet; writeupsc reads the handwriting, matches the question to real topper answers in its reference bank (5,901 answers by 129 toppers, 2018-2025), and names the specific changes worth making, without rewriting the answer. Built by Gaurav Singh and Aditya Tiwari; independent of UPSC and of any coaching institute. It also has free practice: Prelims GS Paper I previous year questions (1,600, 2011-2026, by subject and topic, with negative marking) and a daily Mains answer writing bank (1,066 past questions, 2013-2025). The official Telegram bot, @WriteUPSCbot, evaluates handwritten answers sent as photos in the chat, and a free Telegram group posts a Mains question every morning. writeupsc is an independent practice tool for UPSC aspirants, not affiliated with the Union Public Service Commission. It is built for General Studies papers 1 to 4, Essay and Optional subjects. ## What it does - Reads handwritten answers from photos (JPG, PNG, WebP; every page of the answer, in order). - Finds the closest matching questions in a bank of 5,901 real topper answers from 129 toppers' published answer copies (GS1-GS4, Essay, and PSIR, Anthropology, Sociology, Economics, Psychology and Geography optionals). - Shows the aspirant's answer beside a real answer that scored, and names only what differs: the dimensions missed, the example that would earn marks, the conclusion that needs a forward-looking line. - Writes a model answer for the question in the style of real toppers, with a diagram when the question needs one, and shows it beside the aspirant's own answer. - Returns a score, marks by dimension (structure, dimensions, arguments, examples, diagrams, conclusion), and the changes worth making next. The aspirant's own answer is never rewritten. - Refuses to score when no grounding reference can be retrieved, rather than inventing feedback. ## How it differs from other AI UPSC answer evaluators Most tools score against a generic rubric. writeupsc grounds the model answer and every point of feedback in retrieved topper answers to similar questions, and marks what is missing from the aspirant's own answer. ## Access - Free to start: sign in with Google and each account gets 1 free evaluation. No card required. - Reads English and Hindi (Devanagari) handwritten answers. For a Hindi answer the suggested changes and the model answer come back in Hindi; some criteria text is still in English. - An evaluation takes about a minute for a typical two to four page answer. ## Pages - [AI UPSC Mains answer evaluator](https://www.writeupsc.app/ai-upsc-mains-answer-evaluation): what the evaluation checks: the demand of the question (covered, partly covered or missed per part), seven weighted criteria scored 1 to 5 (content dimensions 25%, examples and data 20%, introduction 15%, structure 15%, diagrams 10%, conclusion 10%, presentation 5%), marks as a half-mark range calibrated to real marksheets, comparison with the five closest topper answers, and specific changes.
