Versus

Handwritten vs typed answer evaluation for UPSC Mains.

Typing your answer to get it checked changes what you practise: pace, legibility, spacing and diagrams disappear. Mains is handwritten. Evaluate the photograph of the page you actually wrote, and the feedback covers the thing the examiner will see.

Why typing loses

Mains is written by hand under time. Typing removes the three things that decide marks on the day: pace, legibility and layout. A checker that only takes typed text is marking a different exam.

What to do instead

  1. Write by hand, timed, the way you will in the hall.
  2. Photograph every page and run it through writeupsc. The reading, the word count and the diagram all come from the page.
  3. Fix the named change in the next answer, not by retyping this one.

Questions

Can writeupsc replace typing?

For checking answers, yes. writeupsc reads every answer the same day, against real topper answers, with the change named. Typing cannot do that at any price.

Is the writeupsc score reliable?

It is an estimate for practice, shown as a range in marks with the criteria behind it and the topper answers it was compared against. No tool can promise the examiner’s number.

What does writeupsc cost?

1 free evaluation with a Google sign-in and no card, then a 5-evaluation trial or a 30-day answer writing pass.
